On the 3rd September 1972 the Southdown Gliding Club hosted a 50th anniversary of their very first meeting in 1922 at Firle Beacon (Itford). Tony Prentice had his bamboo constructed glider (below) on display. Also at the meeting was Geoff McBroom who demonstrated and flew one of his two gliders on display.
