Hi Guys
The past 3 months have turned out to have been very good for the web site. First the BMAA gave me permission to re-produce many of the very early ‘Flight Line’ magazines. For those that are interested in how powered hang gliding got off the ground they are well worth a read. Many thanks to the BMAA for their help.
Second I have also been given permission by the BHPA to re-produce many of the early ‘Wings’ magazines. Which I hope to make a start on over the coming months. It’s a long drawn out job scanning, as I found out while under taking the Flight Line scans. However, it will be done as soon as I can fit it in. Many thanks to the BHPA for their help.
WANTED I’m desperately trying to get hold of some of the early manufactures leaflets so that they can be added to the yearly history pages. This would show pictures of the hang gliders as they came onto the market along with the details of the glider.
I’m still trying to make contact with a few of the early flyers, i.e. Brian Woods, Justin Wills, Graham Slater, Graham Hobson, Robert Bailey, Chris Johnson, Tom Knight and Fin Kennedy. Or maybe somebody out there could write me an article on their early flying careers.
Also heard a rumour that Frank Tarjanyi & Roly Lewis Evans are about to embark on a re-construction of Franks very first Trike unit. This would be something well worth seeing, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that it all works out for him.
If you think you have something of interest that others might like to read about, please get in touch and I’ll do my best to post it on the web site for you.
If you have an old hang glider in your garden shed and would like it to go to a good home, why not get in touch with Jason Board at the www.british-hang-gliding-museum.com I’m sure if it’s in reasonable condition he will take it off your hands.
Both Jason and myself are working together to try and preserve our history for the generations to come.
Finally, THANKS to all those who have already helped me. I would not be where I am today without your help.
