BRITISH HANG GLIDING HISTORY

THE MODERN FLEXWING

One of my first trikes which I mated to a bow spit hang glider wing (Sigma) in 1981. Both the trike and wing were made by Southdown Sailwings.  The red tube on the keel is a parachute. The trike could fold and went in the back of an estate car (in the back ground). I am not sure of the total weight but it might come within the nano trike range. Picture shows the trike in the front garden with my two sons sitting in it. The Sigma had a 12m wing span and 187sq' so it would thermal quite well. Top speed was 40mph.
